FAQ
Q:
How does this site work? How do I purchase the scores?
A: First, download and install Scorch.
After that you will be able to preview the scores.
You should make a test print to make sure your printer is working correctly.
Then you are ready to make a purchase with a supported credit card. After authorizing the credit card you will get to a page
where you can print one score at a time or auto-print the whole basket to the default printer. After successful printing
it is important to click "Yes" to continue to the next item in the printing queue or to finish the purchase. (If something goes wrong, click "No" and we'll investigate.
Notice that clicking "No" will end the printing process completely.)
Q:
Could you make a special arrangement of Apocalyptica's piece XX
for me?
A: We probably can not fulfil everyone's wishes
when it comes to arrangements. However, you can send your ideas
and requests using the Contact
page and we'll see what we can do! Please note that with some
limitations you can use the automatic instrument substitution and
transpose functions in Scorch to customize the score and make it
playable for various instruments.
Q:
When are you going to add more songs to the selection?
A: We are working on new songs and our goal is to add something
like one song per month. However, as we need to get the working material directly
from the Apo players first, the time table is not very predictable since they
are extremely busy. We may also release a bunch of new songs at once after
some months of no updates.
Q:
Could you add cover songs like Metallica etc.?
A: Sorry, currently we are not able to add cover
songs to our selection due to legal restrictions. At the moment
is seems that we are unfortunately not able to add cover songs in
very near future.
Q:
What about percussion, drums, piano etc. that were included on Cult
and Reflections - will you release scores containing parts for these
additional instruments?
A: Currently we have planned to have scores for
four cellos only, but if there is a lot of demand we might consider
the matter.
Q:
What if I run out of ink or some other unexpected thing happens
during printing?
A: See the section Purchased
music.
Q:
Is it possible to print to file?
A: No, that is prevented by Scorch.
Q:
I bought a score for our band and now we are going to perform the piece in a public
occasion. Do we have a permission to do that?
A: Yes, the scores you purchase at Harmageddon-music.com can be
performed at public occasions. The restriction is, that if the occasion is chargeable,
then the appropriate declarations at the local performing rights organization must be
made. For example in the United States that would be ASCAP (http://www.ascap.com). Always contact your local performing rights
organization if the occasion is chargeable.
Q:
Can I copy purchased scores to my friends?
A: You are allowed to copy purchased scores strictly
for your own and your band's use only. That's the only way we will
be able to maintain the high quality of the scores and this service.
Q:
Can I get a VAT reduction?
A: We charge all customers the same price which
is exactly what you see as the total price. After purchase you will
receive a receipt in your email.
Q:
After I added an item to the basket, I still get "Your Shopping
Basket is currently empty". Why?
A: If you tried only once, please try again. If/when that doesn't
help, it usually means you have disabled all cookies in your browser.
Enable cookies and that should do it. In Internet Explorer, look
at Tools -> Internet Options -> Privacy. Then change the setting
to Medium for example. Any setting other than "Block all cookies"
should do it.
Firefox cookie settings are here:
Tools -> Options -> Cookies ("Allow sites to set Cookies" should be turned on).
If you get popup warnings, you may want to (temporarily) allow all
popups.
Q:
I changed the transposition or instrumentation and now the score
is difficult to read. What can I do?
A: The possibility to transpose and substitute
instruments is sometimes very useful but sometimes, for example,
the number of ledger lines can become too great. You can then transpose
an octave up or down for example. Generally we recommend to use
the special functions only if you know what you are doing and everything
looks good. If you decide to make changes, try to make sure that
everything is ok before printing. Note that when you make a purchase
you will be able to change the settings on the score and the parts
separately. We will be able to give more instructions in a few days
as we get more experience on the subject.

Printing free music
You can always print one page for free before
you buy. This is a very good idea as it lets you check that your printer
is set up correctly. You can also go to the Free
Sample page to test printing.
When you have listened to your music, and/or transposed
it into the required key, you are ready to print it out.
If you have transposed the score and want to return to the original,
hit the 'Refresh' or 'Reload' button on your browser. Note that after your
purchase you can also customize and print the individual parts.
If you play the score and cannot hear anything, click on the 'Sound' button
above the score and choose another audio device. Also check that the volume
setting on your computer is not turned down to too low a level.
When you print, don't click Print at the top
of your browser window, or Print in the File menu, or type Ctrl+P
or Command-P - these will print the web page, not the score. Use
the print button in Scorch toolbar instead.
If your free print comes out badly, now is the time
to correct your computer's settings, before purchasing. There
are several options you can change (On Mac they are in the Sibelius
area of the dialog box), so you may need to experiment until it
prints okay.

Printing problems and solutions
You ran out of ink:
If you made a purchase and printed out badly visible pages because of
running out of ink, please
a) Contact us explaining
what went wrong, and we will reset it for you, or if you
are in more of a hurry,
b) After replacing the ink purchase the music again, and Contact us
to cancel your original order.
You ran out of paper:
With most printers, don't turn off the printer - just feed in some
more paper and it should continue printing.
The web page printed correctly but the score in the web page
was blank:
You should have clicked the Print button immediately above the score.
Don't click Print at the top of your browser window, or Print in
the File menu, or type Ctrl+P or Command-P - these will print the
web page, not the score.
No paper came out of the printer:
Check your printer is switched on, contains paper and is plugged
into your computer. If it is, it is probably not set up correctly.
Please consult your computer's or printer's manual, or skip to 'If
there is still a problem' below.
Staff lines and note stems missing, uneven or have rounded
ends:
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print
dialog box change the Substitute Lines option. (On Mac this is in
the Sibelius area of the dialog box.) Then print.
Piano braces missing or wrong size:
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print
dialog box change the Substitute Braces option. (On Mac this is
in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.) Then print.
Arpeggios (vertical wavy lines) or glissandos (diagonal wavy
lines or text) mispositioned:
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print
dialog box change the Substitute Arpeggios option. (On Mac this
is in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.) Then print.
The music doesn't fit on the paper, or is too small:
Scores may be set up for different sizes of paper. Find the score
again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print dialog box
select the "Fit to Paper" option or change the Scale. (On Mac this
is in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.) Then print.
The printer was too slow or ran out of memory:
Find the score again, click Scorch's Print button, then on the Print
dialog box switch on the Substitute Lines option. (On Mac this is
in the Sibelius area of the dialog box.) Then print.
You wanted to print several copies:
When buying a score you can't print more copies than you have paid
for. To set the number of copies, find the score again, click Scorch's
Print button, then on the Print dialog box change the Copies value.
(On Mac this is in the General area of the dialog box.) Then print.
Notes print as text characters or other font problems:
Try changing your printer's font settings. For instance, in Windows
try printing again but click Properties... in the Print dialog box,
then try changing options which affect font printing, such as 'Print
fonts as graphics'.
The note heads haven't printed properly:
Delete all Opus and Inkpen fonts from your computer's font folder
(on Windows PCs this is always Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Fonts),
then reboot, then try installing Scorch again. The notes should
now appear correctly on-screen. If Windows tells you you cannot
delete some of these fonts, restart your computer, then immediately
delete the fonts without starting any programs, then re-install
Scorch.

Purchased music
Once you have payed for your music, you will then have the right
to print out the score and each separate part once.
Before pressing the print button check that your printer is ok!
Make sure you've transposed or changed the instrumentation
after purchase and before you print (skip this if you want the original arrangement).
Check your printer is switched on, contains paper and is
plugged into your computer. If possible, make sure you have enough ink left.
If you run out of paper, don't
turn off the printer - just feed in some more paper and it should
continue printing.
If your print does go wrong, you won't be able
to print out again immediately. Either
a) Contact us explaining
what went wrong, and we will reset it for you, or if you
are in more of a hurry,
b) Purchase the music again, and Contact us
to cancel your original order.
